The name “Venta de Castañeda” Restaurant is misleading because it is not actually located in the town of Castaneda, but a few kilometres away, in Pomaluengo (Cantabria).
To arrive at the “Venta de Castañeda” Restaurant from the direction of Asturias or Castilla, follow the route to Bilbao from Torrelavega on the N-634 or the E-70. Pomaluengo is just 2 kilometres past Vargas, and more importantly, past Castañeda (go back on to the N-634 if entering the town). The restaurant’s parking is on the left hand side of the road. .
Alternatively, if coming from the direction of Bilbao or the east of Cantabria, take the A-7 and turn onto the N-634 at Solares towards Torrelavega. Pomaluengo is past Sarón and La Penilla.
